This fall, the holiday season is expected to be fervent with scary stories, people knocking on doors, and parties that last long into the night. No, it’s not Halloween. I’m talking about that special day in November that comes around every other year: Election Day. OK, I know it’s not technically a holiday. But there are those who treat it like one. We are the few in this country that turn on cable news and C-SPAN instead of primetime dramas and ESPN. You may have friends who fit these criteria. Even if you’re not the political type, you can still make this campaign season special for those that are. In my pursuance of treating Election Day as a day of celebration, here are 5 inexpensive gift ideas for that person in your life who’s counting down the days until this year’s midterms.
1. The Political Bobble-head Doll: Whether it is President Obama for your office Democrat or Sarah Palin for your neighborhood Republican, this little trinket is the perfect decorative addition to the office desk.
2. Campaign Bumper Sticker: These are free at almost any campaign office. Political savvy people love to let others know which politicians they support. They can’t help it: it’s in their nature. Even if you don’t agree with the candidate, getting a bumper sticker for your friend shows them that you haven’t been totally ignoring their rants.
3. Issue Buttons: Many non-profits sell things like buttons and pens with slogans on them to raise visibility amongst the public. They’re cheap and perfect for your buddy who is passionate about a certain issue.
