How to Dress and Act Punk
When you dress punk it’s all about rebelling against what the normal order of things are and it’s going against what is popular. It’s also about going against what society is saying. Punk isn’t just about the clothes you wear, it’s about the music you listen to, the attitiude you have, and how you really feel and how you act.
Believe it or not but there are quite a few categories punks can fall in. Each one having their own unique still of wear. You can choose whichever one fits you best, or just try something new and differents.
Glam Punk:
Pants- Animal printed or colored skinny jeans and skirts.
Shirts- Also, animal printed shirts or tight band shirts.
Shoes- Converse, flats, flip flops.
Hair- Brightly colored, mohawks, straightened.
Make-up- A lot of glitter and bright colored eyeshadows and eyeliner.
Accessories- A lot of flashy jewlery.
Hardcore and Street punk: Most of the clothing is leather.
Pants- Ripped and faded tight jeans, plaid skirts, cargo pants.
Shirts- Ripped shirts, retro shirts.
Shoes- High top converse, combat boots.
Hair- Bald, mohawks that are colored brightly with a lot of jel.
Accesories- Chains, safety pins, bolts, many peircings (Lips, eyebrow, nose, tounge), dog collars, and spikes.
Skate Punk:
Shirts- Plain t-shirts, plaid button downs, hoodies.
Pants- Regular or tight jeans.
Shoes- Converse or skating shoes.
Accesories- Not much jewlery is worn.
Hair- The hair is usually worn messy and long.
Pop Punk:
Shirts- Hoodies that have band logos on them, dress shirts with thin and skinny ties, blazers.
Pants- Straight leg jeans, polka doted skirts.
Hair- Shorter, mohawks.
Accessories- A lot of wristbands.

Now you know what you should wear, but in order to dress the part, you should act the part. You need to listen to the music, whether you like it or not you should know the bands and all of their music. Bands such as: Rise Against, The Ramones, My Chemical Romance, Sum 41, The Misfits, Simple Plan, Green Day, ect. The music matters a lot when being punk, most live by the music.
Once you understand the music you should rebel against something, that’s what punk is really all about. Again, it’s rebelling against what society has to say. Like I mentioned earlier being punk isn’t just about the clothing you wear, it’s about the way you act and your attitude. If there is something that you hate or strongly dislike, rebel against it. Try an attitude that shows you don’t care about what people are thinking. Be sure that you aren’t worrying about what you are doing and whether it’s making you punk or not because that will make you seem like a poser.
