How long can an unused bottle of formula be left in a closed bottle at room temp?
I just started formula from breastfeeding and need help to figure this out from real mothers and not doctors opinions. If I have a thermos full of cool milk, how long til it is sour or bad for the baby. I seem to be throwing out more that she is consuming since I throw out any milk out after one hour of it touching her lips.
It shouldn’t sit at room temperature for more than an hour, but why are you mixing it ahead of time? Have the bottles ready with the right amount of water in it and then when your baby is hungry, add the formula. They make these nifty little formula holders that you can buy at Target, Walmart or any store like that… they have 3 or 4 compartments so that you can measure out the formula ahead of time too and then you just add one compartment to the water already at room temp in the bottle and mix… and it’s ready to eat. That way you don’t have to carry the can of formula around with you. By mixing a bunch ahead of time, you are wasting it, unless you can keep it in the fridge (and I think then it’s good for a couple days). And if you need to warm it, don’t put it in the microwave or on the stove… just use hot tap water and a bowl (it takes longer, but it’s safer). I hope that helps.
