Interesting history of lapel pins
Today, lapel pins are small, beauty and popular. As we all know, they are worn simply as omaments sometimes; they can often mean much more, such as show your military rank or government post or sign of membership etc. So little pins sit quietly on the lapel on jacket, but they say a lot. Now we look back history of lapel pins, and will find more interesting event.
During the American Civil War, different battle units were ordered to wear custom lapel pins to distinguish their units. This was a visual clue to help the army stay organized as well as promoting solidarity among them. Having the troops share a marker also encouraged loyalty among members of the same unit.
For More details, Button Badges were invented by a New Jersey company called Whitehead and Hoag in 1896. The Button Badge was born but not exactly as we know the button badge today as button badges had a cloth front. It started with a patch that was sowed on to jackets, mostly used in the Military to identify rankings and personnel.
In World War I, the use of the lapel pin changed. Instead of being given out to everyone to help distinguish the units from one another, lapel pins were awarded selectively to individuals, to distinguish them for their exemplary service in the field. This use of lapel pins is still alive today, even though other uses have been introduced too.
At the same time, lapel pins have come to be used by many other groups. Fraternities and sororities, for example, frequently give each of their members a pin, which they wear to their meetings and events. Businesses, sport teams, police and medical services, schools and a wide variety of other organizations also use lapel pins, both as a sign of group membership and to mark outstanding achievement.
They became very popular during this era and still are today. You can still find them and they are an excellent collectible item for keepsakes and family tradition. Of cause, custom lapel pins are worn to shown support for causes and ideas, which is so wonderful.
